After retraining on Hurricane he was posted on 5th October 1940 to No. 245 "Northern Rhodesia" Sqadron to Aldegrove in North Ireland. On 1st December he moved to No. 605 "County of Warwick" Squadron to Croydon. There he stayed till September 1941 when on 13th September he was transfered to No. 312 Czechoslovak Fighter Squadron to Ayr in Scotland.

On 19th December 1941 he took off together with F/Sgt Vojtech Smolik for training flight with camere-gun. At 10.45 his Spitfire VB BL293 collided in training dogfight with the other plane, Spitfire VB AD539. The second pilot F/Sgt Smolik bailed out succesfully but he died in wreckage of his plane at Burnfoot Farm, Darvel, near New Mills.

He was burried on 23th December 1941 at 14.30 at Holmstone Cemetery in Ayr.
