On 19th September 1940 he was posted to No. 312 Czechoslovak Fighter Squadron to Duxford where he became operational pilot. He finished his first operational duty on 27th February 1942 and left for non-operational duty. Till October 1942 he served as instructor at Nos. 56 and 53. OTU. Second operational duty he passed at British units and during 10 months he exchanged three squadrons. On 16th October 1942 he started as member of No. 66 Squadron at Zeals, on 11th January 1943 he was moved to No. 131 Squadron to Westhampnett and from 21st February 1943 he was the leader of flight "A" of No. 122 "BOMBAY" Squadron. In September 1943 he finished his operational duty once for all and became Staff Officer at Czechoslovak Inspectorate General (CIG) in London. He served as Inteligence Officer and later he absolved some special residencies at different training units. From May till July 1945 he served at Tangmere at Central Fighter Establishment (CIE) where he made practice flights on different marks of Spitfires and Tempests. He flew on German captured planes like Bf 109 or Fw 190 too and on 4th June 1945 he flew as the first Czechoslovak turbojet Gloster Meteor. After return to Czechoslovakia he served at Miniostry of National Defence in Prague and later was moved to Brno where he served and later lived till his death on 28th January 1994. |
