On 12th July 1940 he came to No. 310 Czechoslovak Fighter Squadron to Duxford, there he passed retraining on Huricane and he became operational pilot.

During dogfight on 31st August over river Thames was his Hurricane I NN-Y (P8814) shot down by Bf 109 and he baled out without injuries.

On 5th September he was shot down again and this time he made crash landing with Hurricane I NN-N (P2148) near Epping and suffered light injuries.

He was injuried again on 15th December 1941. His Spitfire in bad weather struck wire obstacle on West Hartleport airfield.

On 29th May 1941 he was appointed to the function of Flight Commander of flight "B".

On 14th February 1942 at 06.20 in a bad visibility he took off with Spitfire VB NN-X (AD414) for common training flight. During start his plane caugh protective box by undercarriage. Right leg fell down and in the next moment his plane struck the ground by right wing and crashed. The rescue party found in the wreckage only his death body.

He was burried on St. Illogan Cemetery in Camborne Redruth.
