| On 15th July 1940 he came to Duxford as one of former pilots
of No. 310 Czechoslovak Fighter
Squadron and there he have passed retraining on Hurricane.
September 1940 was his most successful month. On 3rd September he probably shot down one Dornier Do 17, on 15th September he shot down another Dornier Do 17 and finally on 27th September he claimed one Messerschmitt Bf 109. On 2nd November engine of his Hurricane I L1842 caught fire during flight over Eastchurch and he bale out successfuly and unwounded. On 8th June 1941 he took off with Hurricane IIA Z2562 (NN-) to check radio equipment before night flying. During this flight he flew to Girton at Cambridge where have lived his girlfriend. At 21.45 his plane crashed near Coes Farm during prohibited low level flying which was fatal for him. At first he was burried in Royston, later was his grave moved to Czechoslovak Section of Brookwood Cemetery. |
