On 15th July 1940 he came to No. 310 Czechoslovak Fighter Squadron to Duxford, there he passed retraining on Huricane and he became operational pilot.

On 5th September he was wounded on his leg during patrol over river Thames when his Hurricane I P8809 (NN-T) was at 14.50 damaged by Bf 109.

Ten days later, on 15th September, he have took off for two patrols with squadron and in both cases he have shot down 0.5 of Dornier Do 17.

On 7th March 1941 he finished his operational duty and after short rest he was posted to No. 52 O.T.U. to Debden. There he was assigned to the function of instructor pilot of flight "B" and during his last two month at this unit, November and December 1942, he was the leader of flight "B".

On 4th January 1943 he was trasfered to No. 15 Maintenance Unit (M.U.) where he became test pilot after short conversion course. On 14th July 1943 he moved to No. 20 Maintenance Unit to Aston Down and there he stayed till 28th February 1944.

On 1st March 1944 he begun the training at No. 105 (T) O.T.U. at Bramcote. Retraining for transoprt pilot he finished on 22nd May 1944 and on 4th June was his crew (Nav. P/O Vlastimil Hlavac and WOP F/Lt Jaroslav Liska) posted to No. 511 Squadron of Transport Command. At this unit he served to the end of war when was his grand total more then 1300 flying hours.

During his rich pilot career at RAF he served as fighter, test and transport pilot and he have flown following types of aircaft:

After return to CSR he became a captain at CSA and he flew around the whole Europe. Most of ex-RAF members were turned off from CSA in 1950. Shortly before that event he and his good friends from No. 310 Squadron, F/Lt Eduard Prchal and F/Lt Josef Rechka, flew from Prague to Great Britain with Dakota of CSA.

He died in Great Britain on 23rd August 1970.
