He came to No. 310 Czechoslovak
Fighter Squadron on 12th July 1940. Retraining on Hurricane
he absolved at No. 310 Squadron during July and first half of August.
He was wounded on leg on 15th September 1940. During fight against one Dornier Do 17 over the Thames was his Hurricane I R4087 (NN-X) at 14.54 shot down by Bf 109 from Stab/JG 26 and he bailed out over Pitsea. He left squadron on 14th March 1941 and till November he served as test pilot at Nos. 10 and 15 Maintenance Units (M.U.). In winter 1941 he was transfered to No. 45 Atlantic Ferry Group where he flew multiengine planes from Canada to England for more then one month. Since 1942 he served at No. 24 Squadron at Transport Command. For his excellent non-operational service he obtained AFC in 1945. After return to CSR he served at first at Army Air Transport Group and in 1946 he became the chief-pilot of Czechoslovak Airlines (CSA) from where he was turned off after 1948. He founded job in Avia Air Factory as worker but was fired again. Then he returned to native Kdyne where he died on 9th April 1988. |
