He came to No. 310 Czechoslovak Fighter Squadron in Duxford as a Sgt on 12th July 1940. There he was assigned into squadron's reserve by reason of many pilots and because he hadn't conversion course for Hurricane yet.

Retraining on Hurricane he started on 17th August 1940 at No. 6 O.T.U. at Sutton Bridge.

After retraining he was on 10th September posted to No. 79 Squadron to Pembrey with P/O Himr. At this unit both Czechs made only few training flights.

On 8th October he moved with P/O Himr to No. 56 Squadron to Boscombe Down. On 10th October 1940 he took off to his first operational flight. In dogfight over Dorset was his Hurricane I P3421 (US-) shot down by enemy Bf 109 over Wareham and crashed at Manor Farm, Worgnet.

He was burried in Holy Trinity in Warmwell.
