After retraining on Hurricane at No. 6. O.T.U. at Sutton Bridge he came on 18th October 1940 to No. 245 Squadron where he stayed for one month.

On 18th November he was transfered to No. 17 Squadron. There he served till 27th May 1941 when he moved to No. 313 Czechoslovak Fighter Squadron.

On 8th August 1942 he left No. 313 Squadron and he started non-operational duty as test pilot at Maintanance Units.

On 1st February 1943 he returned to operational duty again and he agian came to No. 313 Squadron.

On 14th March 1944 he definitive left operational duty and on 18th June he was tranfered to No. 105 (Transport) O.T.U. There he was retrained for transport flying in crew with Navigator F/O Jaromir Grygar and Wireless Operator F/Lt Ludvik Kral.

On 28th September this crew came to No. 147 Squadron of Transport Command, where se served till the end of war.

He died as captain pilot of Czechoslovak Airlines on 21th December 1947 during the flight from Roma to Athens. His plane Dacota OK-WDN was by mistake of ground staff misled from right course to mountains in Pelopones where near town Kalamai crashed. Except him died 2nd pilot Miroslav Churan, Wireles Operator/Navigator Jaroslav Kuchar, Flight Engineer Karel Hudecek, Stewardes Vlasta Bozinova and all passengers.
