He came to No. 310 Czechoslovak Fighter Squadron in Duxford as a P/O on 6th August 1940. There he was assigned into squadron's reserve by reason of many pilots and because he hadn't conversion course for Hurricane yet.

Retraining on Hurricane he started on 17th August 1940 at 6 O.T.U at Sutton Bridge. During retraining, on 3rd September, he made belly landing for engine failure 500 metres from base.

After retraining he returned to No. 310 Squadron on 8th September and he became the operational pilot.

During patrol on 29 Th October 1940 he had strong headache and he fainted for short time. On 31st October he leave unit and moved to RAF Hospital Ely. Next month, on 19th October, he moved to Littleport Hospital and on 23 th December he came to Torquay for convalestion.

On 24th February 1941 he returned to No. 310 Squadron but he couldn't fly for next two months. For this reason he started on 15 th April non-operational duty at Czechoslovak Inspectorate Genral at London.

On 21st July 1941 he returned to operational duty and he became the leader of flight "B" of No. 313 Czechoslovak Fighter Squadron in the rank of F/Lt.

On 20th March 1942 he was again discarded from operational flying for health problems.

Next operational flight he made after short rest on 13th April 1942.

On 17th May 1942 he didn't return from bomber escort over Boulogne. During returning flight of Czechoslovak Wing he with Sgt Borovec by unknown reason left formation and both planes were last seen in course to France.

Few years ago was found out in the German archives that his Spitfire VB BL973 (RY-S) was shot down between Guines and Audembert at 13.35 by Fw 190 from III/JG26 piloted by Hauptmann Josef Priller.

He was burried in Pihen-les-Guines Cemetery.
