He passed retraining on Hurricane at No. 6 O.T.U. at Sutton Bridge and
on 14th October 1940 he came to No. 1 Squadron.
On 29th October he made belly landing near Wittering with Hurricane I V7302 after the fight with enemy bomber Dornier Do 17. After five days, on 3rd November, he made next belly landing with Hurricane I P3395 (JX-B) for engine failure. His Hurricane was damaged on several places. On 12th December he was transfered to Speke where he took the command over No. 312 Czechoslovak Squadron. In position of squadron commander he stayed for five months and on 27th May 1941 he moved to the Czechoslovak Inspectorate General (CIG) in London. There he was appointed to the function of contiguos officer at No. 10 Group of the Fighter Command. During his non-operational service he was at first promoted to the rank of W/Cdr and later to G/Cpt. He died on 26th November 1942 as a passenger during service flight to funeral of other Czechoslovak fighter pilot, Sgt Frantisek Remes. His plane Wicko GM1 ES947 piloted by S/Ldr Jaske in unfavourable weather struck to rope of the baloon barrage over port Cardiff and crashed into the sea near docks. G/Cpt Cizek died but S/Ldr Jaske survived and he was picked up from the sea seriosly wounded. He was burried in Czechoslovak Section of Brookwood Cemetery. His firstname on tombstone is engraved as Eugen. |
