On 20th September 1940 he started retraining on Hurricane at No. 6 O.T.U. at Suttton Bridge.

On 10th October he came to No. 43 Squadron and in November he was transfered to No. 257 Squaron.

On 4th February 1941 during patrol on Hurricane I, P3705 (DT-B) he took part in shot down of one Do 17 near Yarmouth.

He died on 19th June 1941 during the flight from Farnborough. His Tiger Moth I, N6835 by unknown reason crashed into the sea between Southwold and Lowestoft, 400m to the south from Southwold. His body was founded on 18th July 1941 at Southwold.

He was burried on Scottow, Norfolk.
