He passed retraining on Hurricane at No. 312 Czechoslovak Fighter Squadron during September 1940 and in October he became operational pilot.

At first he served as section leader and after protomion to F/O he was appointed to the function of deputy for flight leader of flight "B".

He died on 13th February 1941 during the high-altitude training flight with Sgt Votruba over Talagre. According to witness of Sgt Votruba Bartos's Hurricane I V6885 (DU-V) at the height of 5000 feet fell into spin by unknown reason (probably failure of oxygen device) and at 14.30 crashed at Talagre near Prestatyn.

He was burried on West Derby Cemetery, Liverpool.
